Securing the future: AI and Machine Learning

The presentation, done by Roland Thienpont, Dir. IP Division Product at Nokia, presents Nokia’s vision on the implications of AI regarding the last state of the art in network-physical security.

2024 edition - Atlantic Convergence

This module explores how AI and Machine Learning are reshaping the protection of digital and physical infrastructure against increasingly large and sophisticated cyber threats. The talk explains how attackers are using AI, botnets, infected IoT devices, and normal-looking traffic to launch massive DDoS attacks that can threaten major platforms, service providers, and even national infrastructure.

Key topics include the limitations of traditional DDoS scrubbing centers, the need to detect and stop attacks directly within the network, and the role of AI-driven IP intelligence in identifying suspicious traffic at scale. The presentation also highlights broader security challenges, including quantum-safe connectivity, natural-language security operations, and fiber sensing technologies to protect critical physical assets such as submarine cables.

Border Gateway Protocol

This course provides a practical introduction to the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), the routing protocol that enables communication between networks across the Internet. Starting with the fundamental concepts of IP prefixes and Autonomous Systems, learners will explore how BGP exchanges routing information, how routers establish neighbor relationships, and how routes are propagated between networks.

OPEN

Mitigating DDoS traffic

The Internet is becoming a bigger target than ever for attacks. Attacks will continue to strike, and a single attack can dramatically slow down the Internet. Learn more about how Blackholing at Internet Exchanges can stop the malicious traffic.

Introduction to Data Centers

This module serves as an introduction to data centers: what they are, how they power our digital world, key terms and definitions, the people and processes behind them, and more. It provides the essential foundation needed to build your understanding as you explore deeper into the industry.
